The Last Word
As the Verve came on the rain started to fall here in Chelmsford but it did nothing to dampen the spirits of a frenzied crowd, already revved up and raring to go after a storming set from the Kings of Leon.
Showcasing songs from their new album as well as old classics, The Verve have just rocked the mainstage closing with their excellent new single, Love is Noise. But they haven’t been the only highlight today, oh no. Amy Winehouse took to the stage resplendent in a Matthew Williamson dress, six inch heels and fine voice, belting out old faves including Rehab and Back to Black. Preceding her was the ever-cool Lenny Kravitz oozing style, sex and charm before finishing his set with an impromptu crowd visit.
Up at the 4Music stage Scouting for Girls put on a rousing performance that pulled a huge crowd and got everyone in the mood for headliners Kaiser Chiefs who took the opportunity to showcase some of their new material-sounding pretty good, boys!
The JJB Arena was rocking tonight as The Chemical Brothers took to the decks to deliver a truly mesmeric performance- an epic light show and a throng of sweaty, dancing people ensued.
HUNK of the weekend: Kelly Jones, Topest Totty: Cheryl Cole.
So that’s V Festival 2008, we’ve been stunned, wowed, captivated and at some points positively amused by the plethora of dazzling artists who have taken to the five stages across two venues. Don’t worry if you missed this year’s V Festival as limited number of tickets for V Festival 2009 go on sale on Tuesday 19th August at last year’s prices- Now that’s what I call a good deal.
See you next year!
