Hylands Herald - Saturday Spectacle

Right now, Muse are rocking the main stage at Chelmsford- a spectacular light show, epic drumming and a wild crowd heralds the close of the first day of V Festival 2008.

And what a day it’s been! We’ve seen Newton Faulkner warbling barefoot, The Hoosiers storm out of a gigantic wardrobe, Estelle ripping it up with a stonking rendition of American Boy, and the Prodigy whipping the crowd into an explosive frenzy.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Not content with delivering a stellar set at the JJB arena, complete with moshing, The Script then took the main stage by surprise by popping on to crack out two of their biggest
tunes just before The Kooks.

Meanwhile over on the Virgin Mobile Union stage, Beth Rowley was at her very best charming the crowd, complete with a new Alice Dellal-esque haircut.

Also wowing punters on the Virgin Mobile Union stage was lyrical maestro Roots Manuva, and everyone’s favourite Pop Idol winner, Will Young, looking very dapper in skinny jeans.

As the Prodigy wind up their set with their classic Out of Space and Ian Brown tells the JJB Arena what’s what as he cracks out Fear, we’re going to call it a day.

But don’t worry, we’ll be back tomorrow with all the latest news, onsite excitement, and celebrity spotting from Chelmsford. Right now, it’s lights out at V Festival.
